Beta Release Notes - What's Available

TLDR Parents Beta Version 0.3
Updated: December 2024

This beta release establishes foundational email-to-calendar automation with flexible email ingestion options and personalization. Users can forward emails, use Gmail auto-forwarding, or connect Gmail directly with label-based sync for automated processing.

What's New in Beta 0.3

  • Automated Inbox Reading: We can now automate reading school events and activity information right in your inbox. This means you don't have to forward emails to TLDR Parents to keep up with all that email volume.
  • Family Profile Intelligence: We're referencing your Family Profile to help us find the events and details that matter to your family—just like an assistant should.
  • Personalized Event Scanning: TLDR Parents is scanning the email you share to prepare a personalized list of events that you control by adding to your calendar, dismissing, or saving for review with your family.
  • Streamlined Event Cards: We've streamlined event cards so you can scan for the essentials quickly—and expand when you want to see why an event matters to your family.

TLDR Parents Beta Web Interface

Family Profile & Settings

Family Profile (NEW in 0.3)

Build your Family Profile in the Settings screen:

  • Add children's names, ages, and schools
  • List current activities and teams
  • Specify organizations you're connected to
  • Track discontinued activities to reduce noise

Your family profile powers the "Why This Matters" feature on event cards, showing you exactly why each event is relevant to your family.

Event Relevance/"Why This Matters"
  1. NEW - See all of the events TLDR Parents finds in your email, or just those that are relevant to your family, based on your Family Profile. See some that may be worth a look, and tease out the cruft with the Relevance Threshold slider in the Events screen.
Event States NEW
Event Cards now persist in 4 distinct states and may be retrieved with dynamic filters in the Event screen.
  1. Added - keep track of the events that have been added to your calendar through TLDR Parents.
  2. For Review - save events to consider with your TLDR Parents family.
  3. Dismissed - remove events from your Event queue (and find them later for reference).
  4. Pending - new events surface as Pending until they are acted upon or past.

Email Detail Pane

  • Message/Suggested Events toggle to switch between:
    • Original email text
    • Extracted event cards from that email
    • NEW - persistent event card states between Suggested Events and  Events screens

Slimmed Down Event Cards

Each event card displays essential event information at a glance:

  • Event title with auto-detected category emoji (Sports, School Event, Arts, etc.)
  • Organization name, ie - school, team, club, etc
  • Date and time
  • Location
  • Suggested attendees (family members)

Expandable Event Details (NEW in 0.3)

Click to expand an event card and see:

  • "Why This Matters" - AI explanation of relevance or lack thereof to your family
  • "View Source" link to see original email with highlighted extraction
